Spiritualism

Peter tells us, “that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Peter 4:1).  We see this happening today at an alarming rate.  Virtually every television station carries a psychic hotline sometime during the day or night.  Television and movie producers are promoting witchcraft and necromancy (communicating with the dead) at a veracious rate.  In fact, just within the last few months there has been an incredible increase of television programs involving these mediums.  Not to mention movies such as Harry Potter, Star Wars, certain Disney films, and the increase of apparitions of the “self-professed” Virgin Mary.  Can we really speak to the dead or is this a deception from the gates of hell?  Let’s see what the bible has to say about communicating with spirits…

1.   Does the Bible teach that there are spirit beings?

      Hebrews 1:7

1:7   And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

2.   Spirits being angels, how many classes of angels are there?

      Revelation 12:7

12:7   And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels

3.   Do both classes communicate with mankind?

Hebrews 1:14;  Judges 13:3-21 (Good Angels)

1:14   Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

      2 Corinthians 11:14;  Matthew 25:41;  1 Peter 5:8 (Evil Angels)

11:14   And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

4.   What is Spiritualism?

ANSWER:  “The belief that the spirits of the dead in various ways communicate with and manifest their presence to men, usually through the agency of a person called a medium.”—Standard Dictionary.

5.   Can the dead return to communicate with the living?

      Job 7:9, 10;  Ecclesiastes 9:5,6;  Psalms 146:4

7:9   As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more.

7:10   He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.

9:5   For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

9:6   Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

146:4   His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

6.   Does the Bible say that there are lying spirits?

      1 Kings 22:22-23

22:21   And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.

22:22   And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

22:23   Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

7.   To whom do all lying spirits belong?

      John 8:44

8:44   Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it

8.   What power does Satan and his angels possess?

      2 Corinthians 11:14,15

11:14   And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

11:15   Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

9.   What comes to those who give heed to these lying spirits?

      Leviticus 20:27

20:27   A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.

NOTE:  In a sermon on “Spiritualism an Imposture,” Minister T. DeWitt Talmage said:  “Spiritualism takes advantage of those who are weak and morbid with trouble.  We lose a friend.  The house is dark, the world is dark, the future seems dark.  If we had, in our rebellion and weakness, the power to marshal a host and recapture our loved one from the next world, we should marshal the host.  Spiritualism comes in at that moment, when we are all worn out by watching,—all worn out, body, mind, and soul,—and says:  ‘Now I will open that door;  you shall hear the voices;  take your places around the table;  all be quiet now.’...I denounce Spiritualism because it takes advantage of people when they are weak and worn out and morbid under life’s bereavements and sorrows.... If Spiritualism had its way, it would turn the world into a pandemonium of carnality.  It is an unclean and adulterous religion.”

10. What phases of spirit work are named by scripture?

      Deuteronomy 18:10,11

18:10   There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination [witchcraft], or an observer of times [soothsayer, sorceress, fortuneteller], or an enchanter [observe the signs or omens], or a witch,

18:11   Or a charmer [to tie magic charms], or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer [one who evokes the dead].

18:12   For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD

NOTE:  “The phenomenal aspect of modern Spiritualism reproduces all essential principles of the magic, witchcraft, and sorcery of the past.  The same powers are involved, the same intelligences are operating.”—F.F. Morse, in Practical Occultism, p.85.

Lets take a moment and look the summit of spiritualism today which is the apparition of the Virgin Mary.  It was in the year 1854 when the Whore of Babylon came out with the dogma of the “Immaculate Conception” thus lifting Mary to the same status of Jesus… one who never sinned.

“Through the centuries the Church has become ever more aware that MARY, “full of grace” through God, WAS REDEEMED FROM THE MOMENT OF HER CONCEPTION.”  Pope Pius IX, 1854.

This dogma is preparing the world for the greatest end time deception… the counterfeit second coming of Jesus by Satan himself.  Mary is being used to reach all the world’s religions and pull them into the deception.  Notice:

It was in Fatima, Portugal in 1917 when this demon angel began to make its appearances and it did it to three young girls.  At first the demon wouldn’t say who it was but later professed to be “the blessed virgin Mary.”  Here is a recollection of one of the apparitions…

“As the Lady of the Rosary rises toward the east she turns the palms of her hands toward the dark sky. While the rain had stopped, dark clouds continued to obscure the sun, which suddenly bursts through them and is seen to be a soft spinning disk of silver.  From this point two distinct apparitions were seen, that of the phenomenon of the sun seen by the 70,000 or so spectators and that beheld by the children alone.”  Fatima Website.

Here is a newspaper account of this event…

O Seculo (Lisbon paper):

“From the road, where the vehicles were parked and where hundreds of people who had not dared to brave the mud were congregated, one could see the immense multitude turn toward the sun, which appeared free from clouds and in its zenith. It looked like a plaque of dull silver, and it was possible to look at it without the least discomfort. It might have been an eclipse that was taking place. But at that moment a great shout went up, and one could hear the spectators nearest at hand shouting: "A miracle! A miracle! Before the astonished eyes of the crowd, whose aspect was biblical as they stood bareheaded, eagerly searching the sky, the sun trembled, made sudden incredible movements outside all cosmic laws---the sun "danced" according to the typical expression of the people.”

Is this REALLY the Virgin Mary?  NO.  The bible defines this “Mary” as a demon angel clothed as an “angel of light!”  These apparitions began in a powerful way in Fatima and have since deceived thousands of people into seeking Mary as their redeemer, instead of Jesus.  It is no secret that the man of sin proclaims his love and loyalty to this demon:

Pope John Paul II has 'dedicated himself and his Pontificate to Our Lady.' He bears the letter "M" for Mary in his coat of arms. And his personal motto, which is embroidered on the side of his robes in Latin is the following: "TOTUS TUUS SUM MARIA", which in English translates to: "MARY, I'M ALL YOURS."

"Membership in the Militia means complete dedication to the Kingdom of God and to the salvation of souls through Mary Immaculate." -Pope John Paul II

Acts 4:12 says, “for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” and that name is Jesus!  Most religions of the world hold Mary in high regard and some in fact acknowledge her as the “Queen of Heaven!”  This is the same title that was given to the false goddess “Ishtar” or “Easter.”  These apparitions are helping to bring these religions into the fold of the Harlot!

Just two days ago the Vatican weighed in again on its full support of spiritualism. Notice:

Vatican Weighs in on New Age Movement

The Associated Press

VATICAN CITY Feb. 3 —

The Vatican weighed in Monday on the New Age movement, saying some aspects of the search for inner peace were positive but warning that they can't replace true Christian religion.

In a 90-page booklet dotted with references to the "Magical Mystery Tour," "Feng Shui" and the dawning of the "Age of Aquarius," the Vatican addressed a topic usually reserved for the self-help sections of bookstores. The Vatican said the book was the product of requests by bishops for guidance on determining whether practices embraced by New Agers, including yoga, channeling and healing by crystals, were compatible with Christianity.

The booklet doesn't give a definitive answer. Rather, in setting out a study of the movement its terminology, history and cultural context the book stresses that the question comes down to one of individually discerning compatibility.

Monsignor Michael Fitzgerald, president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, said at a news conference that many aspects of the New Age movement were viewed positively by the Church, including environmental preservation. "But if one is brought to this by ascribing 'divineness' to the land, that's another thing," he said. "Music that relaxes you is good. But if this music empties prayer and prayer turns into just listening to music and falling asleep, it's no longer prayer." The booklet said the popularity of the New Age movement, particularly in the Western world, was due to a "spiritual hunger of contemporary men and women" unsatisfied with existing religion, political institutions or science.

"If the Church is not to be accused of being deaf to people's longings, her members need to do two things: to root themselves ever more firmly in the fundamentals of their faith, and to understand the often silent cry in people's hearts, which leads them elsewhere if they are not satisfied by the Church," the document said.

The booklet, "Jesus Christ the Bearer of the Water of Life: A Christian Reflection on the 'New Age,'" was prepared by Fitzgerald's council and the Pontifical Council for Culture, with help from the Vatican's orthodoxy watchdog, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

It is not considered to be the Vatican's final word on the New Age issue. A definitive document will be issued once the Vatican receives feedback from diocese to the provisional one issued Monday, papal spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls said.

Notice the new support given the wizard Harry Potter by the harlot of Rome:

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Harry Potter fans, relax. The Vatican says the kid is all right.

The question of whether J.K. Rowling's books and the films on the boy wizard have a positive influence came up at a news conference on Monday where the Vatican presented a document on "New Age" spirituality, which contain elements of the occult.

"I don't think that any of us grew up without the imaginary world of fairies, magicians, angels and witches," said Father Peter Fleetwood, a Vatican official who worked on the document.

"They are not bad or a banner for anti-Christian ideology. They help children understand the difference between good and evil," he said in response to a reporter's question.

11. How does the Lord regard all these things?

      Deuteronomy 18:12

18:12   For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD.

12. To who do these mediums that communicate with the dead belong?

      Acts 13:8-10

13:8   But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

13:9   Then Saul, (who also [is called] Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

13:10   And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

13. Will any such people or demon angels enter into the kingdom of God?

      Revelation 21:8;  22:14,15

21:8   But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

22:14   Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

22:15   For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

14. Is there hope for those that have been deceived by demon angels?

      Acts 8:9-11, 13;  16:16-18

8:9   But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

8:10   To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

8:11   And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

8:13   Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

16:16   And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

16:17   The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which show unto us the way of salvation.

16:18   And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

15. What promise may be ours?

      2 Corinthians 6:17,18

6:17   Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

6:18   And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

The Bible is very clear beloved.  These spirits and apparitions are indeed real; make no mistake about that, but they ARE NOT from the Almighty.  God says that communicating with these spirits is an abomination.  So how do you know a false spirit from a true one?  The bible tells us how:

Isaiah 8:19, 20

8:19   And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

8:20   To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

If they speak contrary to the Ten Commandments and Scripture, there is NO LIGHT in them!
